Roger Beardmore was convicted of rape. The victim testified at trial that between the ages of three and six, she had been raped several times while visiting the farm Beardmore lived at. On appeal, the victim confessed to having fabricated her accusation. She expressed a wish to right a wrong which had been keeping her awake crying at night. As a result, there was no material on which to uphold the conviction, and the conviction was quashed.
