Year conviction was overturned:
2002

Reginald F was convicted of sexual offences against his daughter. The daughter alleged he had sexually abused her from a young age and had started having sexual intercourse with her from the age of 12. Evidence from a doctor at trial suggested the daughter had had sexual intercourse regularly over a long period of time. On appeal, new evidence called this into question, and suggested there were no physical signs that intercourse happened before puberty. On this basis, the conviction was quashed.
