Mark Paterson

Year of crime:
2002
Year conviction was overturned:
2014

Mark Paterson was convicted of assaulting a woman while working at the University of Aberdeen’s Chaplaincy Centre. On appeal, new evidence was introduced that undermined the testimony of the woman given at trial. It was also discovered that evidence that would have assisted the defence at trial had not been disclosed. As such, it was found that the conviction was unsafe, and it was therefore quashed.
