David Noble, and three co-defendants, were convicted of murder and robbery, in relation to the death of a 73 year old man, Frederick Barnett. At trial, evidence was introduced from a jalihouse informant who testified that Shaffi (a co-defendant) confessed that he and three other men committed the crime, and several witnesses who testified that they saw the four men outside the victim’s house on the night of the cirme. Their convictions were quashed in 1998, and the murder is now considered unsolved.
