David Potter

Years in prison:
6
Year of crime:
Unknown
Year conviction was overturned:
2004

David Potter was convicted of rape, false imprisonment and three counts of indecent assault. Potter’s ex-girlfriend claimed she had called at his home to collect some items she had left behind after their relationship ended, and that he attacked her after tying her up and gassing her. On appeal, evidence (collected by Potter’s parents using a private detective) was presented that undermined the ex-girlfriend’s version of events and as a result the conviction was found to be unsafe and was quashed.
