Basil Williams-Rigby was convicted of indecent assault following allegations that large numbers of staff at a residential community home in Liverpool had sexually abused the boys in their care. All evidence came from the boys who claimed to have been abused. On appeal, evidence was introduced that contradicted the accounts of the complainants and called into question their reliability. On that basis, the conviction was quashed.
