Afzal and Azhil Khan and Waqar Ahmed were convicted of the murder of Isaiah Young-Sam primarily based on confessions. It was discovered that a secret recording of one of the men encouraging the other to confess had not been disclosed to the defence. On this basis, the convictions were found to be unsafe. A retrial was ordered in which the men were found not guilty (the jury failed to reach a verdict).
